Dear Potential Student,
We are honored and excited that you are considering joining the Ash Fork Spartan Ranks. We have worked very hard in creating an academic atmosphere that helps students get closer to their goals. Ash Fork Schools has established itself as one of the highest performing school districts in the state and in Northern Arizona. As a staff we believe in each other and therefore believe in you. Our curriculum is very rigorous and most students notice an increase in workload and cognitive expenditure. Chances are you will experience moments of frustration as you increase your expectations. Don’t give up! We are committed to making you successful as long as you are committed as well. If you need help please ask someone to help you. Ask another student, a teacher, administrator, and your parents if you are not clear on something and are struggling. Be prepared to constantly be assessed. You will notice the first day of school your AZ Merit label will be posted on a data wall in the halls of the school. Don’t be surprised and this is nothing new to the rest of the student body. We are more interested in how you grow than where you are, and this designation will change as you progress. You will be responsible to learn at least 5 standards per quarter per content area. At the end of the 9 weeks you will be tested to see if you were able to master these standards. If you were not able to we will give you more opportunities during our two-week intercession period after each quarter to work on them. Friday school will be available as well to further give you opportunities to grow and master concepts.
Before I get too far along let me explain the process to become part of our team. First, we are on a first come first serve basis for open enrollment students based on excess capacity limits. You must have a completed open enrollment packet in to the district office after July 1st. The first students to turn in a completed enrollment packet will be considered for enrollment and any other students will be put on a waiting list in the order we received the completed packets.
In order to consider your application complete, all open enrollment applicants must turn in a completed packet with all information filled in as well as all required documents, and a five paragraph essay that outlines what you hope to accomplish by attending Ash Fork Schools. Enrollment packets are available in the district office or under documents on our Ash Fork Schools Mobile App. You can also follow the links below.
Students in kindergarten to 3rd grade can have their parents complete the essay. The essay can be handwritten, but must be legible to be considered complete and have an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
Please feel free to contact the district office if you have any questions pertaining to this process and we hope this is the beginning of an effective relationship that helps you accomplish lifelong goals and dreams.
