As many of you may have heard the Ash Fork School Governing Board met Tuesday evening to discuss the best way to provide adequate and effective education while keeping our students, staff, and community safe. After hearing from many individuals and looking at all statistics and scenarios, the Board decided to return to a hybrid model of instruction November 30th, the Monday we return from Thanksgiving Break. The motion also directed the district Superintendent to provide a weekly report on Covid-19 trends and statistics that affect Ash Fork, and that any extreme situations will trigger an emergency board meeting to discuss strategies and changes if necessary. The goal of the Governing Board and administration is to return to a full-time traditional educational model but felt the hybrid model was a good compromise for the current conditions. The hybrid model will be similar to the hybrid model we activated earlier in the school year but with a few changes. Middle School will be ending the day at their regular time of 4:00 pm and Elementary hybrid will no longer be half a day all week, but rather a full day twice a week. Teachers will be sending home information on student schedules for this hybrid model with your student. Our District office will also have a master schedule if you do not receive information from your child. On behalf of the school district we’d like to thank all of our families for doing their part in helping us all get through this very interesting period in our lives.
The school board has voted unanimously to move back into a hybrid model, beginning the Monday after Thanksgiving Break (11/30/2020). The Governing Board will be provided with weekly updates of all COVID-19 trends and statistics. The Governing Board will look at this data to decide whether to move back into traditional in person or distance learning. In addition all extreme COVID-19 cases will also be reported to the Governing Board. Students who have no place to go during the times that they are not scheduled to be at school, may request to be on campus. It is the goal of the Governing Board to have our students 100% on campus in the traditional learning model.
Since we could not hold our fall clothes drive in August, Ash Fork student council will be holding it the week of November 9th. It will be held in the portico from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Picking up again 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM. It will be closed Wednesday, November 11th in observance of Veterans’ Day. Items being offered are last years unclaimed lost and found, as well as donated items. Parents and community members are invited to help themselves during these dates and times. There is no need to check in at the front office. We are asking that face coverings, social distancing and hand washing guidelines be observed. Thank you for supporting Ash Fork Student Council.

Dear Senior Parents/Guardians: I was hoping that your graduate had given you information on graduation. I'm finding out differently! Parking is limited and some people have already brought their vehicles to the gate. It is advised that a truck should be backed in for people to sit in. You may start entering the field at 6:30 PM. Remember that you must have a ticket to enter. Tickets were given to your child yesterday. Sorry, but each graduate is limited to 8 people, no exceptions. Ticket holders will need to bring their own lawn or camping chair to sit on, or even a blanket. We will not be setting up chairs for attendees. We will be attempting a LIVE stream on our Facebook account, @AFspartans31. Graduation will begin at 7 PM.
We are out of food boxes. We will be distributing again next Wednesday! Hope to see you there!
Food boxes still available! Just drive up to the school and give your household size and your address.

You ladies are wonderful and the Ash Fork Senior Class of 2020 deeply appreciate your quilts.
We will be having a food box delivery every Wednesday @ 4:00 PM. All that you are required to do is sign a paper and state your address and household size. Do not exit your vehicle, we will load your box for you. We hope to see you tomorrow afternoon!

Sol Ayala not only scored a 100% on her AzMerit Math test, but alos scored a 100% on her ELA. This is also Victor Ayala's second year in a row he scored a 100% on his math. Each of these students will receive a check for $100 for their outstandiing performance on the AzMerit test. Sol will receive $200. Checks will be mailed out next week. Congratulations to these awesome students!!
Under the direction of Governor Doug Duecy, Ash Fork Schools are closed until the end of the school year.
Thank you for your patience in this unprecedented time. We understand many families are in need of internet access. We have some WiFi hotspots ordered, but are unsure of their arrival. The Ash Fork Public Library has free WiFi that extends outside their building. Most cell phone providers will lift data caps if you call them and tell them that your student is using it for distance learning. Stay safe!
I know that we are all struggling to make this Google Classroom distance learning work. Please make sure you are signing in with your school issued Google Account. If you go to classroom.google.com and it doesn't ask for you to login, you are more than likely logged in with your personal Google account. You need to log out, and log back in with your username ending with @afjusdspartans.org.
As mandated by the state of Arizona, Ash Fork Schools will be closed through April 10th.
If you haven't already, please fill out our technology survey by Sunday, March 22nd. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CSZWGYJ This survey will give us a better idea of what our students need. Thank you for your cooperation!
Starting Monday March 23 food boxes will be provided for all community members under 18. The boxes will be available in front of the school between 9-11:00 AM, and will include both breakfast and lunch. We are planning to deliver these meals via established bus routes in the near future. Schedules will be provided please stay posted.
The staff at Ash Fork Schools and your children have worked too hard to let our academic growth be diminished during the Covid-19 emergency. Administrators, teachers, and staff members are currently working on ways to empower our families to continue learning at home. Many resources will be computer based but we are also looking into ways to help families that do not have access to computers. This will be a great test of both our academic staff and caring families, but together we can make some amazing things happen!
We now have a COVID-19 Response and Resources page on our website: http://www.afjusd.org/o/ash-fork-jusd-31/page/covid-19-response-and-resources
Ash Fork Schools will begin providing boxed breakfast and lunch meals for children in the community on March 23rd, 2020 between 9-11 AM. The package will contain both breakfast and lunch in order to save the burden of taking two trips per day. These meals will be very basic and utilized for children in need and depend on the school's food program to sustain adequate nutrition. More information will be given on how the food will be distributed.

I’m sure that we have all heard some discussion on the recent issues surrounding the coronavirus. I want to give some recommendations and also inform you of what we are doing here at Ash Fork Schools. At this time, school closures are not recommended by the Arizona Department of Health Services or any county Department of Public Health. We will close schools if we do receive notifications from these entities to do so. Many of you are way cooler than my family and actually did something fun this Spring Break. These activities may have included extensive travel or being in public venues where possible exposure may have occurred. Whether you went somewhere or not it is important to keep your child home if they are ill, especially if they have respiratory issues. We are giving staff the same recommendation and expectation. We understand that our school being one hundred percent free and reduced meals means that many children rely on our federal breakfast and lunch program. If the need arises we will try to help with meals that are delivered or given to home-bound sick students. Obviously this will involve processes that do not expose the employee delivering the meal. The school district is also committed to doing our best to provide academic materials as well. Though the custodial staff always increases sanitation during flu season they are increasingly vigilant in their efforts to keep the school and school vehicles as sanitized as possible during this epidemic. All forms of communication will occur through our phone messenger, Facebook Page, website, and app. Thanks for Your Support, Seth Staples

Coach Martin Makeover Starting February 25, Coach Martin asked Cesar Acosta to start him on a weight loss plan. He asked Cesar to do this because he is planning to attend college to become a physical trainer. He is also currently taking a nutrition class that helps him make up meal plans for Coach Martin. Coach has just finished his 10th week and has lost 39.8 pounds since he started. Cesar’s knowledge in this area has really made a difference in his life. Cesar holds Coach Martin accountable by having him enter his workouts and meals into his “My Fitness Pal,” which has helped him out a lot. Coach Martin is going to have Cesar to continue to work with him, even when he leaves for school. It has been a great opportunity for Cesar to use some of his knowledge to help out his coach. Coach Martin deeply appreciates his help.

The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks. Ash Fork participates in Toys for Tots. Our presents are delivered with the family name.
