Work Ethic                                         By Mr. Holladay

Recently Ash Fork Elementary Schools has become one of six Arizona schools to be nominated this year to be nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon school. After thinking long and hard about what makes our school special, I came to the conclusion that though we do excel at many best practices and tirelessly work to hone our craft, the single most important factor to our success is work ethic. We have created a goal oriented culture that is shared and understood by teachers, administration, parents and most importantly the students.

Here is a list of non-negotiables that we believe make students successful:

Goal Setting: Successful students set goals. Decide on what you want to achieve and then begin planning. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about how to achieve your goals. Interview as many successful people as possible. Always be open to adjusting and improving your plan.

Attendance and Punctuality: Successful students make school a priority. They show up consistently and are on time. Arizona State Standards move quickly. It only takes a few days to get behind.

Positive Attitude: Successful students have Can Do attitudes and truly believes they can do whatever they set their mind to. They take responsibility for their growth and refrain from making excuses or blaming others.

Hard Work: Successful students work hard. There is no way around putting in the time, energy and focus necessary to achieve your goals. Happy people work hard.

Accomplishment: Successful students feel the satisfaction of accomplishment. The more a student succeeds the more they feel a sense of personal pride, motivation and grow a positive self-image.

On behalf of the Ash Fork Elementary teachers we believe with all of our hearts that every child has the ability to grow academically and socially. If you have any questions on how to set and achieve goals, we are more than happy to help out anyone who has decided to make themselves a more successful student.
