Welding Plates

We have had a great start to the new school year in welding! This quarter, we have learned about shop/machine safety. Safety is at the core of every lesson in welding here at Ash Fork Schools.

We have also dove into blueprint reading and measurements in the classroom. We started with MIG (GMAW) welding in the shop to become comfortable laying down lines and making test plates. As the students progressed, we stepped them up to Stick Welding (SMAW), where they learned to strike an arc and become consistent with running lines for practice.

This next quarter, we will be learning the proper way to do test plates and a more in-depth study of machines and their different setups.
