I am 14 years old and I have ADHD. Since I was very young, I have noticed how ADHD
makes some things hard for me. I wanted to share this with you to give you an idea of
my challenges as a student at Ash Fork Schools.
My Behavior
ADHD makes me act quickly without thinking sometimes. This can make me or others
frustrated because they might not understand why I do certain things. I also have
days when I feel super energetic and days when I am really tired.
My Noises
People with ADHD often make noises or movements. I tap my feet or click my pen a lot.
These actions help me think and focus, even though they might bother others.
My Friendships
It’s hard to keep friends sometimes. I might interrupt my friends or talk too much
without meaning to. I am trying to get better at listening and letting others talk
more.
My School Work
School is tough. I know the lessons, but focusing on finishing homework or studying
is really hard. I use timers and take short breaks to help me study better.
My Focusing
Paying attention to something without getting distracted is very hard for me. My mind
jumps from one idea to another quickly. To help myself focus, I like to work in quiet
places and break big tasks into smaller parts.
In the end, living with ADHD is like being on a big roller coaster—it has many ups
and downs. But I am learning more about how to handle the hard parts every day. I am
more than just my ADHD, and I am getting better at the skills I need to do well.
