At Ash Fork School, we believe that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and cared for. Student wellness is an important part of overall success and plays a big role in how students learn, build relationships, and grow both academically and socially.

Student wellness includes emotional health, behavior, and the ability to manage stress or challenges. At times, students may experience anxiety, frustration, or other difficulties that can affect their ability to focus or interact with others. These experiences are a normal part of growing up, and with the right support, students can develop healthy ways to cope and build positive skills.

At Ash Fork School, our staff works hard to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. Teachers and staff focus on building strong relationships with students, encouraging positive behavior, and helping students develop skills such as problem solving, emotional regulation, and respectful communication. Clear expectations, consistent routines, and supportive guidance help students feel confident and secure throughout the school day.

To further support our students, we have begun implementing friendly weekly and monthly check-ins. These check-ins are brief opportunities for students to connect with a trusted adult at school and share how they are doing. They are not intended to be intrusive or to place families under scrutiny. Our goal is simply to help students feel supported and connected while they are at school.

Our school counselors are also available to meet with students; however, these visits are typically limited to up to two times per month. While schools can provide encouragement and support, they are not able to provide intensive counseling services.

If a student needs more ongoing or specialized support, we encourage families to reach out to professional counseling services. Polara Health in Chino Valley offers behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and families who may benefit from additional support.

Families who would like more information or would like to schedule an intake appointment can contact Polara Health Intake Services at 928-445-5211. They take AHCCCS and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Supporting student wellness is a partnership between families, schools, and the community. By working together and connecting students with the resources they need, we can help ensure every student at Ash Fork School has the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed.
