Pumpkin Patch at Mortimer Farms
In October Kindergarten through 2nd grade had the opportunity to attend the pumpkin patch at Mortimer Farms. The week before they attended, they also had a presentation from Agriculture in the Classroom. Our presenter, Cassandra Manifee, explained the Pumpkin Life Cycle with a nonfiction rhyming book and a pumpkin life cycle craft activity. These two events went nicely together for a Fall time theme.
At the pumpkin patch our students got to explore some fun activities and choose their own pumpkin to bring home. This was definitely a memorable experience for students and teachers alike.
Our field trip gave students a chance to make connections to the world outside the classroom. Their experience at the farm helps them understand where their food comes from and how life cycles of plants work.
