NOTICE AND CALL OF SPECIAL ELECTION

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF ASH FORK JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL

DISTRICT NO. 31 OF YAVAPAI & COCONINO COUNTIES, ARIZONA

A special election has been called by, and will be held in, Ash Fork Joint Unified School District

No. 31 of Yavapai and Coconino Counties, Arizona (the District), on November 7, 2023

(“Election Day”). The purpose of the election is to permit the qualified electors of the District to

vote on authorizing the District to improve the District's bus barn, allowing for usable

classroom space to implement a satellite campus CTED Automotive Technologies class. The

District has the funds to complete this project. As a result, there will be no impact on your taxes.

Arizona law asks small schools to seek voter approval of any capital project which exceeds

$250,000.00. A.R.S. § 15-342(25)(a). This project is budgeted at $1,506,937.00. Again, this

project costs are already budgeted by the District. There will be no increase in your taxes.

Ballots will be mailed to qualified electors residing within the District on the week of October

11, 2023. The deadline for ballots to be returned to your County Recorder’s Office is November

7, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. If mailed, you must put the ballot in the mail in time for it to reach your

County Recorder by November 7, 2023. Do not mail your early ballot after Tuesday, October

31, 2023. Postmarks are not accepted, and late ballots will not be tabulated. Early ballots may

also be dropped off at the Ballot Replacement Site listed below on Election Day.

On Election Day, November 7, 2023, there will be a ballot replacement site at the Ash Fork

Public Library, 450 W Lewis Avenue in Ash Fork. It will be open from 6 am until 7 pm. There

will be a ballot box in which to deposit your early ballot.

If a ballot is destroyed, lost, spoiled or not received, a replacement ballot may be obtained by

contacting your County Recorder’s Office.

The Yavapai County Recorder’s Office is located at 1015 Fair Street #228, Prescott, AZ 86305.

The Coconino County Recorder’s Office is located at 110 E. Cherry Ave. Flagstaff, AZ 86001.

Any qualified elector is eligible for early voting. Early voting materials and/or more information

about the election may be obtained by contacting your County Recorder.

The deadline to submit statements to the Yavapai County Superintendent of Schools for or

against the bus barn improvements is August 11, 2023. Pro and con forms can be found online at

The last day to register to vote in order to be eligible to vote in this election is Monday, October 10, 2023.
