In kindergarten this quarter we have focused a great deal on reading and preparing our students to begin the steps to learn to read by starting with the basic skills of learning letters and their sounds. The program we use to help teach us this called Fundations this has been a key component helping us with letter recognition. One of the fun tools of this program is the owl we use to help us learn our letters. Her name is Mrs. Echo and the kids have become very fond of having her in our classroom. Mrs. Echo has two baby owls named Echo as well that help us to learn and really keep the kids engaged and eager to keep practicing their letters every day. It has been fun to see how excited they are about Mrs. Echo and her babies and how learning letters and their sounds has become a fun and exciting thing we do in class. I highly encourage anyone that is wanting to work with their young child at home to find simple tools that will spark your child’s interest that will keep them engaged and motivated and make learning fun for the whole family.
