Running Track

Physical fitness helps children to feel better, think better, and move better. This quarter, middle school PE students have started to learn about the importance of being physically fit. And while at first many students struggled with conditioning, they are now finding that their bodies have grown stronger and the conditioning less intimidating.

The majority of middle school PE students can now run a mile in less than twelve minutes and can complete twenty minutes of stair-based cardio. In addition to building their cardiovascular strength, students have also been working on their muscular strength and endurance with three week periods of weights and conditioning. In second-quarter students will continue to learn about the benefits of physical fitness and will start learning about nutrition and the importance of making healthy food choices.

This quarter’s fitness recognition goes out to all of our students who meet the qualifying standards for the Presidential Physical Fitness Award in the mile.
