Disability Awareness Month

At Ash Fork Schools, we are proud to join schools across the nation in recognizing October as Disability Awareness Month. This month is an important opportunity for our students, staff, and community to:

  • Learn more about disabilities

  • Celebrate achievements

  • Strengthen our commitment to inclusion

Disabilities can be visible or invisible, temporary or lifelong, and they affect people in many different ways. At Ash Fork, we believe that every student brings unique strengths, talents, and perspectives to our school community. By fostering understanding and acceptance, we ensure that all students feel valued and included.

At the heart of this commitment is the guarantee of FAPE—Free Appropriate Public Education—for all students with disabilities. This ensures that every student has access to the supports and services they need to learn, grow, and succeed alongside their peers.

How Our School Community Supports Disability Awareness

  • Access for all: Every student has the education and supports they deserve.

  • Celebrating strengths: We recognize and honor the abilities of every student.

  • Close-knit community: We look out for one another as a caring school family.

  • Daily kindness: We show respect, acceptance, and empathy every day.

At Ash Fork Schools, inclusion is more than a theme for one month—it is a year-round commitment. Together, we can continue to build a community where every student feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Our Ash Fork Team believes that fostering inclusion in the classroom means creating a space where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered. With teachers guiding the way and students supporting one another, our classrooms become communities where differences are celebrated and everyone can thrive.

On a personal note, I would like to make an affirmation to our parents. I am very proud of their open communication and active participation in supporting their students with special education needs. Your involvement makes a real difference in creating a caring, inclusive school community. Thank you for making such a difference every day!

Sincerely,
