My fifth-grade students recently completed an exciting project called the Codex Project as part of their Amplify Reading curriculum. This project wrapped up their learning about Early American Civilizations.
Students explored the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations by reading, taking notes, and discussing what life was like long ago. They then created their own “codex,” or informational booklet, filled with writing and visuals that explained what they learned.
Through this project, students practiced important skills like researching, writing in their own words, and organizing information clearly. They also learned how geography and culture shaped each civilization.
Fifth graders worked hard and showed great creativity and focus. I am proud of their learning and excited to share their amazing work!
