The Spartan soccer team went to Payson for a tournament this past weekend. The got soaked during the game against Benson, 3-0. The game did eventually get called due to weather. However, our boys played very well over the two day tournament. In game one, they defeated Round Valley 4-1. With team effort and great teamwork, such as passes from Josue Tellez, John Cauthen, Branson Milius, and others, it allowed Jesus Ayala to score all 4 goals. Game 3 was the hardest loss against Show Low. It was at 1 PM on Saturday, and was it ever hot. The boys struggled the whole game. There wasn't much energy. However, Miclo Ayala had a direct kick goal which kept us from being shut out and we lost 7-1. Their last game was against Snowflake. The Spartans came out strong and finished strong. They ended up tied, 1-1 with a direct kick goal from Josue Tellez. It was a great experience for these young men and we hope that the season continues to show how much of a team these boys are. Their next home game is Thursday, August 31 @ 4 PM versus Williams. We hope you can come out and cheer them on.

Class of 2024 is trying to start a new tradition at Ash Fork High School. They decided to meet for sunrise at the school and have breakfast. They also wrote down their goals for the school year and will read them at the end to see if they met them. I think this is a great idea and I hope it does become a tradition. I wish all seniors could have shown. Have a great year Class of 2024!
